April 7th, 2010

Hello all! For those of you who ever read this, you’re in luck. I am going to begin using it again to post travel updates and stories. Below is a recap of the past half a year and the tentative plan for the next half a year. Read the rest of this entry »

Day 1A of main event

October 14th, 2009

On my walk to the casino yesterday morning I noticed a Burger King so I glanced inside. Much to my surprise, it looked different than American ones because it had all this retro decor and it looked like a 50’s diner. They had all this Elvis and Marilyn Monroe stuff and a jukebox and that kind of stuff. They tried to make it look like a legit diner and not the shit joint that it truly is!

Main Event

October 13th, 2009

I’m finally all settled. It’s been a full day since I arrived. I took a nice self-guided walking tour to get a sense of what’s in what direction. The city is very interesting. On the shore, there are clusters of chic restaurants, bars, and clubs, overlooking yacht yards and the bay (or sea, or ocean, I literally don’t know what body of water it is).

Layover in Fiji

October 12th, 2009

Here I am in the Fiji Airport in the city of Nadi. The ten hour flight here was relatively painless especially due to the fact that I had an aisle seat in a row where the other two seats were empty. T-minus ten days

October 1st, 2009

I leave for Auckland in ten days. In preparation, I have had to gather the following materials: sunblock (the ozone hole is right above that region), a lock (for lockers at the hostel), and soon I will have to make a trip to the bank and then a Travelex to exchange money. Aside from that I am relatively set, I will be taking a digital Nikon camera as well as my Mac, and a plug converter, and some clothes, and that’s it.

Initially I planned to decide the second half of my trip while there, depending on the fun I was having and how the place shapes up to be, but I think I will just do it now and avoid the last minute stress and rigmarole. Wellington it is.

Travel quotes for inspiration

September 22nd, 2009

I embark to Fiji and New Zealand in three weeks, my second trip in a year South of the Equator. As I gear up to see a brand new place I can’t help but overflow with that giddy feeling of anticipation, like a kid who can’t sleep the night of Christmas. For waiting just downstairs just a moment away is an abundance of new gifts to discover and enjoy. That metaphor is what I await on my trip, with downstairs symbolizing latitudinal flight patterns and “a moment away” meaning twenty hours of flight. But there are still new gifts for me to discover and enjoy, namely sights and sounds of a new land. Below are some travel quotes I found which are inspiring. Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome!

September 21st, 2009

Welcome to my blog. I intend for this to be a place where I can leave my stories for people to enjoy. I have a couple of unique trips coming up, the soonest of which comes up in three weeks, to New Zealand. I will be in Auckland for a week for a poker event at the SkyCity Casino. I will also be stopping in Nadi, Fiji, along the way, as well as Wellington afterwards. Read the rest of this entry »
